AFP MA Events

AFP Massachusetts offers a wide range of events where you can learn, share best practices, gather evidence-based information, and build your professional network. From our Breakfast Meetings and Brown Bag Lunches, to our more intensive Fundamentals course and Master Class course; and the annual conference on philanthropy, you’ll find everything you need in a wide variety of programming to keep on top of trends and advance your fundraising skills. Programs are presented by experienced, knowledgeable professionals in the field who strive to provide up-to-date, informative and useful content that you can use immediately in your job.

Chapter Program Highlights:

Annual Conference:  Fundraising Day in Boston is one of the largest annual fundraising conferences in New England with over 700 attendees from the field of development. This is a full day experience featuring more than 30 sessions plus keynotes and networking opportunities.
Fundraising Fundamentals:  Two days of fundraising training for individuals new to the field. Fundraising Fundamentals stands out from other courses in that it offers an affordable price; 25 year history of curriculum development; and a faculty of senior practitioners in the field. Tools for students to network with one another beyond the course are also provided.
Master Class:  Two days of leadership training for mid-career professionals that is successful because of the exchange of ideas between peer attendees. Like Fundraising Fundamentals, it offers tools for students to continue to network with one another after the course is over.
Meet the Funders Breakfast:  A highly popular program in which 200+ fundraisers come together annually with 20+ local corporate and foundation funders in a speed-dating format that enables attendees to learn about their targeted funder's plans, funding priorities, and processes and ask questions.
Member Networking Events:  Annual events that provide an opportunity for members to share an evening of networking with peers and includes a speaker presentation on a topic of interest.
Massachusetts Gives Awards Celebration:  Annual event that honors Massachusetts philanthropists and development professionals and celebrates the impact of philanthropy in our community.
IDEA Fellowship Program:  AFP MA Chapter is committed to encouraging persons who are underrepresented in the field to become active members of the association. AFP accepts up to ten fellows each year for a two-year program that includes complimentary chapter membership, training and networking, and a mentoring arrangement. The program is designed to help young fundraisers in their careers and in their roles as fundraisers to have a positive impact on the missions they support.
Workshops:  Monthly workshops presented by AFP MA are central to programming and attract more than 1,400 members and non-members annually to explore key strategic topics. Format includes a speaker (or panel) presentation, an interactive Q&A session, and networking.
Brown Bag Lunches:  AFP MA also conducts a series of Brown Bag Lunches annually, with topics targeting specific challenges faced by development professionals that provide for audience interaction.
Career Center: An important resource where most fundraising jobs in the Greater Boston area are listed.
